On January 3, 2019 Appeon, renamed the project PowerBuilder 2018 as Powerbuilder 2019. For the release of this latest version will be implemented in stages, first a beta 1, then a beta 2 to end with the full version (GA) for spring.

Appeon announced that PowerBuilder 2017 R2 (scheduled for January 2018) will directly call GIT and SVN's native APIs (instead of MSSCCI). PowerBuilder will provide native interface options in PowerBuilder for the following source control systems: Subversion (SVN) and Git.

STD Foundation Classes is a framework developed by Software Tool & Die Inc that has been working with APPEON for several years to provide a set of ready-to-use classes in powerbuilder projects. Although STD already has versions for previous versions of powerbuilder, it points HIT to be the first framework of PowerBuilder 2017. It contains magnificent libraries for handling Webservices, SMTP, cryptography, Multitasking, PB2Java among others.
